This is a very solid inland California 240Z that has only had one owner from new.
In the late 1980's the owners wife had a minor 'fender bender' and the offside front wing was replaced with a genuine Nissan OEM panel which was never painted. The car was then parked up in the owners garage for 27 years and started occasionally until recently he decided to re-commission the car and get it back on the road. This work included basic service work and attention to the brakes. The car starts easily first time and runs and drives nicely.
The engine is the original L24 unit and the engine bay looks very tidy.
When the car was a few years old the colour was changed from the original 112 lime green to dark blue. This paintwork is now showing it's age having lost its shine hence could be re-done as part of a scheme taking it to the next level.
The bodywork overall is very straight and solid with no significant dents or dings. The door fit and panel gaps are excellent, the main floors, battery tray, rear slam panel and spare wheel well (all weak areas on these cars) appear in great original rust free shape.
The seats were recovered in cloth with some detail to match the new dark blue paint when the colour change was carried out many years ago.
There are many excellent original features still present in the car which just re-inforce the fact it has not been messed around with over the years and show the benefit of having just one owner. The carpets although worn and in need of replacement are original as is the underlay/soundproofing material, the original dashboard (not a dashcover) is in as good a condition as you will find with just a couple of very minor cracks easily repaired. The diamond crossed vinyl covering the rear shock towers and transmission tunnel is in great shape as are the interior plastics, centre console, door cards etc.
The gearbox is the original 4 speed unit and feels very tight and precise.
The alloy wheels are the original 7x14 slot mags. The Yokohama tyres will need replacing as although the tread wear is very good, the age is unknown.
Original dealer fit air conditioning will likely will need updating to modern standards and is untested. Front grille from later model 280Z is fitted.
The clock reads 69k miles and is believed to be the actual mileage. Looking at typical wear indicators on the car and the fact it has been garaged off the road for an extended period indicate this being the case, although must be taken as speculation rather than definitive.
Overall this Z is a keenly priced and easy light project waiting to be taken to the next level and represents a great opportunity for someone to tailor this car to their personal specification.
The last couple of pictures show the original owner with the car on our collection holding a framed photo of the car as it was before the colour change and a copy of that photo, just a nice finishing touch...
